As players continue to leave Glasgow Rangers amid rumor that now they may be dropped to a third tier, one has to be realistic.  If Rangers goes, then kiss the SPL goodbye as well.  If you remove one of the two strongest teams in  a league that has little strength, it’s a matter of time. I fear one of footballs greatest rivalries is in serious danger.

Lille Confirm Signing Kalou

Kalou was a free agent and part of the predicted “Chelsea Exodus” which had already taken Drogba and may claim Malouda, Lampard and Terry among others.  This is basically being seen as a switch for Eden Hazard, but I think that remains to be seen.  Fellow Chelsea/Liverpool exile Joe Cole, is reported to be heading back to Liverpool.

Park Ji Sung to QPR for £2.5M

Talk about a steal.  Park Ji Sung, who I think is still a quality mid, is headed to Queens Park Rangers (medical pending) for a reported £2 - £2.5M (depending on who’s news you read).  With all the movement in midfield, it was a forgone conclusion that Park was the next to go.  I had him leaving before Pogba, but still saw then both on the way out.

So as of today, United is working with 10 midfielders: Young, Anderson, Giggs, Carrick, Scholes, Cleverley, Jones (who mostly plays defense), Fletcher (if he returns), Kagawa and Powell, with rumors that Nani wants out.

The team still haven’t addressed the aging in the defense, with the first game of the season not far off.

Van Persie Break Up Letter to Arsenal

This is an update for the fans about my current situation. I have kept quiet all this time out of respect and loyalty for the club and as agreed with Mr Gazidis and Mr Wenger, but since there is so much speculation in the media, I think it is fair for you guys to know what’s really going on at the moment.

As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss and Mr Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club’s future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.

I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days.

Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don’t want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.

I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal FC,

Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch. I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last eight years.

As soon as Mr Gazidis is back from his two-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments.

*Note: I will not make any posts when Van Persie signs with Man City as no one will be shocked or surprised.

"I don’t think I treated Dimitar unfairly but he can feel disappointed that he didn’t get more football.  He’s a fantastic footballer.  It wasn’t a great season for him last season, partly because I settled more with Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck…and Chicharito (Javier Hernandez).  He’s a fantastic talent. Nothing has happened with Dimitar and he’ll join the tour to South Africa and China."
- Sir Alex continuing defending his mistreatment of Dimitar Berbatov, who was 12/7 last season (vs Hernandez 28/10 and Welbeck 30/9) a hat trick and the only two goals scored in a loss to Blackburn… clear signs of an out of favor  player, not out of form .

Not sure which Tottenham news is less exciting?  The addition Villas-Boas or the £7 million free signing of Icelandic attacking midfielder Sigurdsson.

Sir Alex Coming Off More Like an Angry Ex

"Pogba signed for Juventus a long time ago as far as we’re aware.  It’s a bit disappointing because I don’t think he showed us any respect at all.  To be honest, if they carry on that way, I’m quite happy that he’s away from me anyway."  - Ferguson by way of MUTV

Anyone remember when this happened to Carlos Tevez?  The buzz from United was that Tevez was greedy and wouldn’t take the deal they offered him.  There are two problems with this claim (1) Tevez never wanted to leave United and (2) he just wanted to be played and paid what he was worth.

In typical Sir Alex fashion he discarded him claiming he was greedy and didn’t need him and yes they won a title the following year, but what happened next?  He would have the last laugh as City would not only win the League, but beat you United when it mattered on the way to doing it.

Now we have the same situation with Pogba, a guy who Sir Alex didn’t play and didn’t think was worth the paper money was printed on.  And again as the kid walks out the door he takes shots at him.  I think it’s time for United to ditch the “Grumpy Old Man” and find someone who better understands the modern game and isn’t the bigger than the team.

Dos Santos Experiment Nearing an End…

Giovani Dos Santos Olympic coach believes he will complete his exit from Tottenham to an unnamed club, according to the country’s coach Luis Fernando Tena, who was quoted on mediotiempo.com, as saying: “The most important thing is his mental state. We never had a doubt when he told us (he wanted to go back to Europe). We told him: ‘Go. Do it’.”

Sevilla and Atletico Madrid have been linked with signing Dos Santos which would see him return to Spain (having played for Barca).
